The Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Board was constituted by the Government of Tamil Nadu in the year 1971 by an executive order of the Government (G.O.Ms No.222 Labour Dept, dated: 20.2.1971) with a view to promote the Welfare of the employees and their dependents. The Tamil Nadu Labour Welfare Fund Act, 1972 was passed by the State and was given effect from 1.1.1973.
